The Michelsen family is a Jewish family who fled Poland and settled in Nyborg.
In this audio story, you’ll hear the tale of young Karl, whose life would come to hold remarkable significance for an entire nation across the Atlantic. Today, you’ll take a step back to the year 1839 and follow Karl through a story of hope, fear, love, longing, and hatred.
The soundscape of Karl’s life offers a glimpse into daily life in Nyborg—at a time when being Jewish was far from easy.

A podwalk is an audio tour that guides you on a walk through a specific area.
Useeum’s podwalks are engaging and often dramatized audio stories that bring the area’s history to life.
Once you have completed your purchase, you will receive an email (check your spam filter, if necessary). The email will contain both a link and a QR code.
If you are reading the email on your computer, you should scan the QR code with your phone.
If you are reading the email on your phone, you should click on the link.
After this, you will be directed to the Useeum app and gain access to The Merchant’s Invisible Legacy.

Here on the site, you can both find your next museum experience and purchase your tickets. Make your next museum visit exciting with the Useeum app at hand. Here you’ll find a wealth of great stories in the form of guides, podwalks, and treasure hunts for a variety of museums, visitor centers, castles, nature parks, and the like.
The ticket portal is new, and we are working on including all Danish museums. Right now, you can purchase tickets for the museums you see here, but we hope that in the future, you’ll be able to buy tickets for even more museums.
