Klosterlund Museum
From the Stone Age to the Peat Industry
At Klosterlund Museum, you can get up close to the people who lived in harmony with nature around Lake Bølling for thousands of years. Discover unique archaeological finds dating from the Stone Age through to the more recent era of peat production.
Come face to face with people from the past, including the famous Hammerum Girl, whose nearly 2,000-year-old clothing is among the best-preserved prehistoric textiles ever found in Denmark and one of the museum’s greatest treasures.
Klosterlund Museum is an ideal destination for families. Children can search for traces of the past, explore the everyday life of Stone Age hunters in the play area, and compete in traditional peat stacking.
The museum is surrounded by beautiful countryside with excellent walking opportunities. The Bølling Lake Trail begins right next to the museum, and a shorter walk around Lake Skallerund is also available. Both routes offer stunning scenery and fascinating stories about the area’s cultural history.
