Bornholm's Medieval Center
Your Time Travel Has Begun!
Bornholm’s Medieval Center is for the whole family. It is a 15-hectare open-air museum featuring farm animals, a water mill, simple rural houses, and a large, impressive fortified manor with a tower, palisade, and wall frescoes.
There is a daily free guided tour, and each day you can participate in activities such as archery, coin minting, or witness the firing of the breech-loaded medieval cannon. On different weekdays, you can also meet the dyer, the cook, or learn about children’s toys in the Middle Ages.
New to the center is the pirate area, where you can learn all about the warriors who plundered the Baltic Sea during the Middle Ages. Board the pirate ship in our adventure room, play captain in our little dinghy “Kyt” which lies in the stream, or explore the cozy mini-exhibition on the first floor.
In addition to all the sights at the center, you can also try: board games, drawing activities in the exhibition room, learning to write runes and writing with feather and ink at the manor house, wearing chain mail, helmets, and armor at the guard tower, as well as fun medieval games like Kubb, stilts, pillow fights on the balance beam, and more.
With our little pocket guide in hand, you can also embark on your own adventure and gain fun and inspiring knowledge.
