Welcome to the Middle Ages!
The Medieval Center Nykøbing Falster
In the medieval town of Sundkøbing, you can meet craftsmen, merchants, and brave knights competing in the tournament arena. Experience the world’s largest trebuchet and the thunderous roar of mighty cannons.
The Medieval Centre is an open-air archaeological museum in Nykøbing Falster, focusing on Danish medieval life around the year 1400. A section of a fictional medieval market town, Sundkøbing, has been constructed here based on written sources and archaeological finds. What you usually see behind glass in museums can be seen here used for their original purposes, and you are allowed to touch.
The Medieval Centre is an attraction that offers a journey back to the Middle Ages. You can walk through the market town, witness knight tournaments, and see the great trebuchet, the blide. There are no signs or apps here; knowledge is gained through conversations with the town’s inhabitants, dressed in reconstructed medieval costumes, who convey the life of the town.
The Medieval Centre also serves as an external learning environment, offering educational programs to schools and institutions, where students have the opportunity to fully immerse themselves in history.
Welcome to the Medieval Centre with exciting historical experiences for the entire family!
