Natural history and palaeontology
Gram Clay Pit
Gram Clay Pit is both a palaeontological museum and an clay pit for fossil hunting, providing a window into the seabed of the prehistoric Gram Sea, 10 million years old.
In the museum’s exhibition you can experience fossilised skeletons of extinct whales and see remains of the gigantic shark, megalodon, which, according to research from March 2025, is the largest known specimen in the world at an impressive 24.3 metres. You can also step into a life-size replica of the megalodon’s jaws and view a real megalodon tooth up close, along with a large collection of fossils of smaller marine animals that once lived in the Gram Sea.
In the clay pit you can go fossil hunting yourself and help the museum excavate fossils that may offer entirely new knowledge about the ancient sea. If you’re lucky, you may find snail and mussel shells, sea urchins and shark teeth to take home with you.
